How to make an Insurance Claim for your roof.

Making an insurance claim can be tricky business. You want as much as possible for your damage and they want to pay you the least amount they can. You can always end up with what's fair by following these three tips.
1st. You need to collect some bids.
Our normal instinct is to get bids for the best price, but these bids you want to make sure are including everything possible, and are as high as possible. Call the biggest companies you can find. You know, the full page ads in the phone book or the ones who have billboard signs. These guys have a lot of overhead and they will get you big numbers.
2nd. Call your insurance company to come out and take a look at the damage. 
They will send out an estimator to check out your roofing damage and he will try to cut you a check quickly. This is fine if he has a total that is comparable to what your estimates to get the roofing work done.
This way you know what is fair.
3rd. Decide who you would like to do the work. Usually a more reasonably priced contractor. 

Following these steps will help you not loose money when it is time to get the work done. If you don't get enough money to get your work done correctly, you may be the one left holding the bill.
